Community Spotlight: Ellen Cassidy
Q: Hi Ellen! Are you a movie buff or do you enjoy participating in all MillBridge’s social contest?
A: I am absolutely a movie buff. My mom and I used to watch movies together when I was younger and had quite a big movie collection. She would recruit me to help her with projects around the house (painting and stripping wallpaper), and we would put on movies while we worked.
Q: What is your favorite movie? Or your top 5? What type of movies to do you typically like? Do you have a favorite actor?
A: Some of my favorite movies include Inglorious Basterds, Fargo, The Patriot, The Departed, and Django Unchained. I typically watch horror movies, action movies, comedies, dark comedies, and most films by Tarantino. I like movies that make you think or serve a greater purpose than a simple romantic plot. My favorite actors are Benedict Cumberbatch, Alan Rickman and Michael Fassbender.
Q: Tell your neighbors a bit more about yourself! What do you do? What brought you to MillBridge?
A: I work as a Loan Officer Assistant for Movement Mortgage, a company that originated in Virginia Beach and has since moved their headquarters to Indian Land. I love working for a local company that pours itself back into the community through charity and community outreach.
I graduated with an English degree from UNCC and have lived in Charlotte for over 20 years. I’m a huge English nerd – I love to read, especially British Literature. My family is originally from Cleveland, Ohio so I’m a big Cleveland sports fan and that generally takes up a good amount of my spare time if I’m not working or hanging out with family. My husband’s family owns property in the mountains and we attempt to spend time there as much as we possibly can – there is nothing as calming as unplugging and getting away from the city life for a few days.
Q: And your family?
A: My husband and I will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary in September, as well as the birth of our second child – he is due in two weeks! We have one son, Jack, who will be turning 2 in November. We are beyond excited for our newest arrival and can’t wait until our boys are old enough to enjoy the amenities of MillBridge, most especially the trails and community center.
Q: What do you like most about living at MillBridge?
A: We absolutely love how the neighborhood is family-oriented with constant activities and opportunities to meet neighbors. When searching for our home, this was what really drew us in and sealed the deal. This is the perfect neighborhood to raise a family.
